Course Offerings & Progressive Curriculum

Classes generally meet once a week and run continually throughout the academic year organized by terms running approximately 10-12 weeks in length. Our curriculum and projects are designed to present a progressing level of skill and challenge so that students can gain the most out of our program. Our small class size and individualized instruction allows you to join at any time.

Pottery - Mud Pies

 4 - 6 Years Old
Beginning clay and pottery. Using air dry and polymer clay to start, students will get basic instruction in using a wheel as well. Learn basic coil, pinch, slab and extruded methods of handbuilding with clay. A very hands on class and kids must get like to get messy. All tools and materials included in tuition.

Class will be 1 hour long and is limited to 8 students.

Basic - Spanish Emersion

This class is geared for students 5-8 who are interested in a combination of learning Spanish and drawing. The class will be taught in Spanish with alot of repetition in the elements of shape and the subject matter of each class. Our instructor is a native speaker who has a wonderful calming way about him and who is also a talented artist. Suitable for students 5-9.

Homeschool - Clay

Students will learn basic pottery and handbuilding skills in this class. Winter Mini Monart Workshop I

Winter Mini Monart Workshop. Themed workshops available 12/28, 12/29, 12/30. (please register for each day) This is a great opportunity for both new students and current students to experince new Monart drawing lessons and fun exciting crafts during winter break! Come for just one, two or all three days! Classes are 2 hours and cost $25 per day. For new students and students that are up for registration renewal, there is an annual $10.00 registration fee that is good for a whole year for any future Monart courses/classes. This will only be applied to the first workshop you register for. New projects daily and all art materials are included. Ages 5-8 will have drawing and crafts and 9-12 will focus on drawing. Angry Bird Class - One Day only

Okay..Martin Luther Kings birthday is coming up and many kids will be out of school. We are offering a 3 hour ANGRY BIRD class on Monday, January 16th from 1-4pm. Kids will learn how to draw many of the characters from the Angry Birds video game as well as pigs, crates and all the fun obstacles they encounter. Supplies are included. Class is discounted to $30.00 for the one time event. Suitable for students 5-8, but older students who LOVE Angry Birds will enjoy it as well. Class will fill at 15 students.

LEGO Workshop

A Workshop designed to help in the creative building with LEGOS. Architectural Rendering

Some off site classes will be done as we sketch some of the landmarks of Keller. Frank Lloyd Wright, Frank Gehry, IM Pei and Gaudi are some of the masters we will learn about. This is an hour and a half weekly class.

Tanjore Paintings

Tanjore painting is a classical art form South India, from the town of Thanjavur. It dates back to 1600 AD. These paintings are known for their surface richness, vivid colors and compact composition. This class will take you through the intricate steps involved in producing an heirloom for your own household, one that you work on individually or as a family. A composition measuring 12\"x15\" can be completed over a period of 4-6 weeks. The time durations varies in relation to the size that you wish to work on. The price covers tuition only. Learn how to draw your favorite cartoons. In addition to learning how to exaggerate gestures, facial expressions, movement and how to build a cartoon, we\'ll actually produce our own cartoon cell. Learn more about this fascinating industry and how it is changing. Students will be encouraged to come up with their own comic strip. For students 8 and older only.

CLAY - hand modeling

Clay Modeling - twice a week clay modeling with Nora Richtman. Students will learn about different glazes and firing techniques as well as manipulating clay into beautiful sculpture pieces. Class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays 4:30-6:00p 9 weeks of classes January 2 to February 29th. $375.00 with supply fee included. Students 8 and older.

Clay Modeling

An introduction to air dry and polymer clay. This class is geared towards the motor coordination of children 9 to 12 years old. Students work on their personal exploration of the form, space, texture and experience of clay. The class emphasizes the fundamentals of pottery and students will learn pinch, coil and slab technique as well as 3-D sculpture. Class is 1.5 hours long.

Day-Off Workshop II

Winter Mini Monart Workshop II

Winter Mini Monart Workshop. Themed workshops available 12/28, 12/29, 12/30. (please register for each day) This is a great opportunity for both new students and current students to experince new Monart drawing lessons and fun exciting crafts during winter break! Come for just one, two or all three days! Classes are 2 hours and cost $25 per day. For new students and students that are up for registration renewal, there is an annual $10.00 registration fee that is good for a whole year for any future Monart courses/classes. This will only be applied to the first workshop you register for. New projects daily and all art materials are included. Ages 5-8 will have drawing and crafts and 9-12 will focus on drawing. Fashion Illustration

Fashion Illustration and Design -- If you've got a budding fashion designer in your home this is the class for them. This new illustration class will cover history of fashion, discuss different designers, how to make a fashion board, learn body shapes and what flatters each shape, discuss patterns and fabrics and how to deconstruct a t-shirt and make their own design. We'll finish the class with a Fashion Show. Classes will meet March 22-May 10 4:00p-5:30p on Thursdays weekly. Class is one hour and a half each week. For students 10 and older - this class is not appropriate for children 8-9. Must have at least 6 students to present the class. Tuition $160.00

Needlepoint and Design

I\'ve had so many comments on my needlework designs here at the studio that I\'ve decided to teach a class on basic needlework and how to paint your own needlepoint canvas. Basic canvas, needles and some yarn will be supplied, but additional specialized yarns may be required depending on the designs that you do. For adults and teens - 13 and older.

Creative Writing - Homeschool

Do you have stories bursting to be told? A student who reads all the time and drinks from good books? Then, our creative writing class for teens may be a perfect fit for you. Instructor, Lois Frazier, is an author who constantly is digging into the next story. Students will learn the components of writing, building a story outline, character biographies, importance of the story arc, and how to develop good conflict. Telling the story and getting students to write on a regular basis will be our motivation. We will not spend alot of time on grammar or sentence structure. Homework is involved. For students 10 and older.
